Even experienced lifters rely on vague sensations — “I think I hit my chest today” — instead of real-time data to guide their training.

Without visual feedback. they miss opportunities to optimize form, monitor recovery, and prevent injury.

User Interview

I interviewed 8 fitness enthusiasts — from casual gyms-goers to certified trainers — to explore how they measure workout effectiveness.

Most participants admitted they relied on visual cues or sensations rather than objective data.

“ I can feel the burn, but I don’t know which muscle I’m actually training.”

This direction shifts the mirror from a passive display into an active companion for self-awareness — blending performance, reflection, and recovery into one continuous experience.

To make reflection tangible, I designed a feedback language built on color, motion, and rhythm.

Each visual state is defined not just by hue, but by tempo, intensity, and diffusion — transforming physical effort into an emotional signal the body can intuitively read.

PROTOTYPE EVOLUTION

Reflect⁺ prototype begins by harmonizing the Apple Design System with the Reflect⁺ light-feedback language.
The goal was to explore how a minimal, structured UI could translate physical effort, focus, and recovery into a coherent mirror experience.

Following initial testing, Reflect⁺ refined its interface through color rhythm, clarity, and immersive motion cues — evolving from static feedback to an intelligent, reactive experience.
